Joseph Gingold, born Oct. 28, 1909, was one of the most influential violinists and violin teachers from the 1920's to 1990's. He taught at Indiana University from the mid-1960's to the 1990's and produced many great violinists of today including Miriam Fried and Joshua Bell.
